Future Plans

past-present-future

As part of our Youth Group, we plan to incorporate Youth Experiential Events (YEE) to give them the opportunity to experience new activities that might lead to new hobbies, skills or may open up future career options.
Activities might include; drumming, photography, media studies, art & crafts, sports, etc... But we NEED YOU to help find us the contacts for some of these activities. If you have any useful contacts or ideas, please get in touch!

We also hope to provide the opportunity for our older youth club members (14+) to develop their leadership skills and use these contributions to help progress through the Youth Scotland's Achievement AwardsThe Awards are accredited by ASDAN and are credit rated and levelled by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

- 'What it's REALLY like to have dyslexia' DVD - We already have some real accounts on film and with the footage from the Awareness Day on 22nd May, hope we can combine material from our Youth Experiential Events to produce our own DVD.

- DSNE leaflets - Perhaps when we have time, we will get round to creating some information leaflets about the Dyslexia Scotland North East branch and what we do.

- Dyslexia Education Workshops - we hope to develop a sequence of interactive workshops for parents/carers, individuals with dyslexia and professionals who are looking for more information and support. These workshops would aim to explain common issues relating to dyslexia, how to use individuals' strengths and develop useful skills. Watch this space!

- Local Awareness Raising Events - the Aberdeen Dyslexia Awareness Day in May 2010 was a great success & we hope to continue to increase our local branch profile in Grampian, promoting greater public awareness of dyslexia. We hope to have future events focusing on adult needs, dyslexia & visual issues and promote integration of technology in education. Check the Calendar for forthcoming events.
