Started in January 2011, the North East youth club is going from strength to strength!

We now have about 15+ regulars attending the youth club and we have almost equal boy to girl ratio.

So far, the group has been involved in street dancing, sponsored pancake toss, bag packing, street marching, animation, creating The Cube challenges, a trip to Laser Tag & Pizza Hut. They recently took part in a very enjoyable, interactive workshop at the Apple shop and have plans to create their own DVD.

Recently several of the youths were interviewed by Susan from Dyslexia Scotland and this video footage was subsequently played at their Educational Conference. The feedback from the showing was fantastic and provided a real insight into some of the realities of having dyslexia. It is hoped that this footage will be incorporated into a DVD about 'What its like to REALLY be dyslexic' that the group hope to make in the future.

XdysleX have been trying out some animation. Here's a few of them;

As part of our Youth Group, we plan to incorporate Youth Experiential Events (YEE) to give them the opportunity to experience new activities that might lead to new hobbies, skills or may open up future career options.

Activities might include; drumming, photography, media studies, art & crafts, sports, etc... But we NEED YOU to help find us the contacts for some of these activities. If you have any useful contacts or ideas, please get in touch!

We also hope to provide the opportunity for our older youth club members (14+) to develop their leadership skills and use these contributions to help progress through the Youth Scotland's Achievement Awards. The Awards are accredited by ASDAN and are credit rated and levelled by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

We hope to create a magazine type of area here that the Youth Group are responsible for - watch this space!
